This is Michael's Rant and Rave page demonstrating our tax dollars at work.

January 6, 2012

Washing state is now taking their toll onThan  small business by taking tolls on the 520 bridge. A lot of people aren't going that route now, so the coffee shops and other businesses off the 520 are losing business because people no longer drive that way, or the $3.50 to $5.00 for crossing the bridge is now going to the state instead of the small businesses. I'm willing to bet by the time they start to build the new 520 bridge the state will have already spent the money. Again, our tax dollars at work.

Looks like Washington state and Colorado are going to be voting to legalize marijuana in the 2012 presidential election. If this were to pass in both states, what are the Feds going to do ? Arrest everyone and put them in prison.
There's no room now in the jails and prisons. It's going to be interesting.

Like alcohol that was once illegal, if the states stop arresting people for having small amounts of marijuana, they will save money and what are the Feds going to do. That's how alcohol became legal.
Washington  state knows we lost this war on drugs long ago and is also the longest war in history.
It's a freaking plant that a lot of people enjoy. You can't stop a plant.

As it is now, you will most likely spend more time in prison for selling or smoking marijuana than you would if you were drinking and hit someone with your car. Drive drunk and kill someone with your car, you get maybe 4 years.
If you're caught selling marijuana and not hurting anyone, you could get 10 years.
The drunk will run the stop sign, the person on marijuana will Stop short of the stop sign.

What's with all these wars anyway ? Marijuana was legal back in 1923, but guess what. The soldiers fighting a war were too laid back and weren't into fighting. If I had my choice of sharing the road with a drunk or a marijuana user, I'd rather take my chances with the driver who was high. At least they would stop.
Our tax dollars at work. Of course if we were to make marijuana legal, Mexico would compete against us and make drugs cheaper and better, so the states would have completion.
With me, I get so frustrated that our government wastes so much money and destroys so many lives on a war they are not going to win yet alcohol which is even worse is legal.

There are many countries where marijuana is legal or the police look the other way. These countries aren't having any big problems with it. In California the police turn the other way, as they need the money. When is our freaking government going to wake up to reality ?

Now that the voters of Washington state have voted to take the state out of the liquor business, the greedy unions are complaining that Costco is breaking 2 rules which is illegal. They are afraid of losing  all that money and plush retirements. I say we kick the Unions out and look forward to buying my liquor at Costco starting in June 2011

Now if the Unions  were to win, that would mean every law that was past previously where they were breaking 2 laws, would have to be repealed. The Union is also complaining about all the people who will be losing their job. When I lost my job, I didn't see anyone doing anything, so what makes them special ?

Fed up with Corporate Greed while many of us are just doing good to get by.
We lost about $3000 a month when the economy started going bad.

November 21st 2011

Looks likes Governor Gregoire wants to raise the tax half a penny for Washington after the state blew $2 million dollars on cell phones nobody used and other things, like a state exempt vehicle found  parked at a local casino on Sunday morning along with all the trash in it. I won't be voting for her again. We're getting screwed although the Republicans aren't much better.

The Republicans won't raise the tax rate on the millionaires, even though there are millionaires in Washington D. C. asking them to raise their taxes. Corporate Greed  at work spending our tax dollars.

We can bring them all down if we just stop spending so much. Maybe then they will legalize marijuana. You can do more time in jail for possession of marijuana than you would if you went out to a bar, had a few drinks, and drove home killing someone on the way.

Legalization of  Marijuana is all about money. A few corporations would lose millions if marijuana became legal and it will someday soon.  JUST STOP SPENDING.  If we get to vote on the half penny increase I'll vote it down. I voted against the liquor store this time as I think like other states we should be able to buy liquor in stores like other states.

November 8th 2011

All right, the people have spoken and looks like Washington state is soon going to be out of the liquor business. I love it.  I got fed up with all the money Washington state was spending needlessly with our hard earned money. I'm glad they lost and will probably miss the State liquor store. They were convenient. It seems to have worked in other states.

Looks like the people also voted down the $60 car tab fee. They expect us to pay for road repair, the buses, the ferry system and whatever else.
I got an ideal. Raise the bus fair to compensate for the price of gas.

What's with the ferry system. These people working for the ferry system get paid double if they clean up the mess when someone gets sick. What's with that ?
Our tax dollars at work. Apparently, the Union made them agree to that.

You notice every time the state wants more money, they always threatened to do something like release violent prisoners. How about cutting some of their salaries.
People working for the state get more money and excellent benefits, while the private sector, gets low pay and benefits are like a dream to most of us.
Most of us are simply fed up with all the BS, the state is putting out.

If your a state employee, there is a good chance you'll die of old age, before you get fired.
It's next to impossible to get fired from a state job.

Netflix and Bank of America got Greedy and tried to get more money out of it's customers while it ended up costing them millions.

That's what they get for being greedy. People are pulling out of BOA like flies. I love it. The people spoke up, very loudly. Good Job.  If BOA goes bankrupt, I could care less. I'm sure the government would bail them out, why I don't know.

Netflix, apparently thought their service was worth more than they were getting. Idiots. They almost doubled their price and lost about half their customers or more. The one who came up with that plan, apparently a greedy moron, costs Netflix millions. Good job Netflix.

How is it these corporations can rake in millions in profits and yet pay very little tax or no tax at all ?

Corporate Greed has gone on too long. I agree with the protestors.

I believe big corporations should pay the same tax rate as everyone else. They make big profits that are more than most of us make in a life time and yet complain when they have to pay more taxes.

Big corporations are running the economy in the ground by giving everyone they can credit cards that many times carry high interest rates and they know you can't afford it. Over time, we end up paying most of our monthly income to credit cards, instead of supporting the economy.

These corporations will do everything they can to get our money as they sit there raking in billions of dollars. When the government steps in and limits how much they can charge, the corporations find new fees we have to pay. It's a Big Scam being pulled off by the richest corporations.

Everyone's tax rate should be the same. The states are now scrambling for more tax money doing anything they can to tax the average worker, while they don't bother to find ways to tax the big corporations more money.  I move either corporations pay the same tax rate we do, or the average
worker pays the same tax rate corporations do, which will most likely never happen.

So for all these people protesting although they really have no demands, I think one of them should be corporations pay the same tax rate we do. Also there should be no tax deductions for anyone.

Apparently the workers in China are getting smart and demanding more money. Good for them. I hope the workers in China demand a lot more money and better working conditions.
The good side is that it will become cheaper for American companies to produce products here in the USA as the people in China demand more money.

With a high unemployment rate, corporations are now paying employees less money, making billions for them. Country is going down hill fast.

As Americans we should demand more products with the label "Made In  USA". I no longer want to buy this junk and when you go shopping, ask the sales person if the product is made in the USA.
Let them know you like to support only products made in the USA.

If I am forced to buy this stuff made in another country, I expect a Discount. If every American did that, maybe we would find products made in the USA.
If enough people questioned buying anything not made in the USA, sales would drop, the state would lose out on taxes and the economy would continue to go down hill.

Made In The USA should be a slogan here. If it's not made in the USA, we'll think about it.

It's like when I look at the price of banana's in the store. Costco sells about 3 pounds of banana's for about $1.25. Go to Safeway and they want something like 75 cents a pound. I'll let them rot, before I pay that price and I refuse to pay the price. I'll go to Costco.

What are we doing building schools in other countries, when we can't even build one in New York, where they desperately need one. We should build up our country before we go off supporting another country.

Corporate America sucks. If anything there should be one tax rate for everyone with no deductions.

BTW - The President of Federation For Government Employees has said that if you think our government needs to downsize, you are mentally ill. I think this person has been in office too long. We got some real nut cases in government.

We're only trillions of dollars in debt with Obama. What would the Republicans have done. We may find out in 2012, but then we seen what 8 years of Bush did.
Of course now the Republicans want to cut everything except those grants that are keeping them rich.

Myself I think they should have told the big banks, that if you can't run your business, that's too bad. Let them fail. Instead we give them a bailout and they take expensive trips to Las Vegas. Must be nice. All I get is unemployment while I'm still taking a trip to Vegas this year.

The govenment bails out the banks and businesses and they keep the money. Must be nice. I wish the government would loan me a couple of million dollars at a really low interest rate. I would invest it and make more money, then gladly pay back the govenment. Of course, I would take a trip to Las Vegas first.

In 2012, if Sarah Palin and Obama are running for President, then we could get screwed either way.
Obama promised us change and that we got. Got to give him some credit. He's the first president ever to have a beer summit and a BlackBerry. At least we got a President who's up with technology.

Apparently a lot of people are getting their welfare checks reduced, while Section 8 housing makes up the difference and in many case's Section 8 is paying all their rent for them. Must be nice.
I grew up in a poor family, although we never considered our family poor. There was no welfare or section 8 back then and we survived. Actually learn to fix our own stuff as we couldn't afford to pay someone.

Those collecting welfare seem to have the money to go to Casino's and gun shops. I think that if the state see's them spending money at a Casino or Gun shop, they shouldn't be giving them so much money.

Now Washington state is trying to get a bill through to legalize marijuana. Why not ? I know, they say with marijuana you get high instantly while with alcohol you need to consume at least 5 or 6 drinks on average.
Marijuana was never legalized because the government couldn't make any money off of a plant, and DuPont who was in the paper business in the 1930's would have lost millions if hemp were made legal.

Looks like the marijuana bill 1550 failed again. I guess that's good news for the dealers.

Do a search on "why is marijuana illegal". There is a conspiracy against it going back to the 1930's.
Marijuana was actually legal in 1923 I believe. Hemp has a lot of good uses. Of course the drug companies don't want it legalized. That way they can sell you 6 to 10 pills at high prices when all you really need is a toke or two. The drug companies can't patent a plant.
I'm sure marijuana will be legal someday.

Government can make more money that way and it is all about money. With all the problems associated with alcohol and yet the government says that's all right. After all, look at how many elected officials and others get arrested for DUI.

It's interesting that companies want to do pre-employment drug tests while it's all right if you go home every night and get drunk.

Now some hospitals have decided not to hire smokers. I'm against that. What will be next. If you eat a lot of fatty foods, have high cholesterol  and high blood pressure, you could get turned down for a job.
I know they say smoking is the worst, yet our government makes too much money off of it, so why would they out law that ?

Feel like telling the employer I don't smoke, but I do have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, worry 24/7 and drink every night. Think I would get the job ?
